About The Role

We're looking for a Community Programme Manager to lead and develop the GÉANT Community Programme (GCP), helping to bring together experts, institutions and organisations from across Europe to collaborate, share knowledge and drive innovation.

Working within the Stakeholder Engagement team, you'll be responsible for supporting a thriving international community, enabling collaboration across disciplines, organisations and countries. You'll help create opportunities for engagement, knowledge sharing and community-led impact, ensuring the programme continues to deliver value to both participants and the wider research and education community.

This is a highly collaborative role that relies on influence rather than authority. Success comes through building trusted relationships, bringing people together around shared goals and creating environments where communities can thrive.

What You'll Do

Community Programme Leadership
  • You'll lead the day-to-day operation and development of the GÉANT Community Programme, supporting collaboration across Special Interest Groups, Task Forces and community activities.
  • You'll work closely with coordinators, community leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and strategic development across the programme.
  • You'll also act as a Task Leader within the GÉANT project, helping ensure the programme remains impactful, sustainable and aligned with organisational priorities.
Community Engagement & Governance
  • You'll build strong relationships across a diverse international community, encouraging participation and helping communities achieve meaningful outcomes through collaboration and shared expertise.
  • You'll support the effective operation of the GÉANT Community Committee, helping drive engagement, support governance activities and contribute to the future direction of the programme.
  • You'll also oversee the GÉANT Innovation Programme, encouraging participation and helping maximise the impact of community-led initiatives.

Community Events & Strategic Coordination
  • You'll lead community-focused initiatives linked to TNC, GÉANT's annual conference, including the Community Hub and GÉANT Community Awards.
  • You'll work across projects and stakeholder groups to strengthen collaboration, improve alignment and help ensure community knowledge and expertise are effectively shared across the organisation.

About You

We're open to candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and sectors. You may not have worked in a role exactly like this before, but you should be able to demonstrate many of the skills, experience and capabilities needed to succeed.

Please consider the responsibilities of the role carefully and how your experience aligns with the following areas:

  • Experience managing programmes, projects, communities, networks or stakeholder engagement initiatives
  • Ability to bring together diverse groups of people and build engagement around shared objectives
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and balancing competing priorities
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, particularly where there is no direct authority
  • Confidence facilitating discussions, leading collaborative activities and encouraging participation
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work effectively within international, multicultural and geographically distributed environments
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a focus on delivering outcomes through partnership and engagement

Experience That Could Be Beneficial

  • Experience working within research and education, membership organisations, not-for-profit organisations or international associations
  • Experience supporting committees, governance groups, steering groups or community-led initiatives
  • Experience managing conferences, events or large-scale community programmes
  • Experience working with volunteer communities, member organisations or professional networks
  • Exposure to standards bodies, policy development, digital infrastructure or technology-related initiatives
  • Experience working across multiple countries, cultures or international partnerships

We recognise that people build experience in different ways and don't expect candidates to meet every point listed above. If your background aligns with many of these areas and you're excited by the opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
